Selling online with Drupal e-Commerce
I mentioned earlier about my second book, Selling online with Drupal e-Commerce, and how it was available for pre-order. Well, it is now published, and I received my author copies yesterday!
What's it about?
The book is about using the popular Content Management System, Drupal, to build an E-Commerce website. This is done using the e-Commerce modules which are freely available from the Drupal website.
What does it cover?
The book covers...
- Installing and Configuring Drupal
- Downloading and Installing the e-Commerce module
- Getting started with Drupal, using it to create a website and a look at extending it with other modules.
- Planning an online shop - looking at legalities, planning the structure and finally planning the store, with a quick look at some killer photography tips from Merrill Valley Photography!
- Creating the online catalog
- Managing users and roles in the context of Customers and Staff
- Branding the website and store
- The checkout process and accepting payments
- Creating a better selling experience for customers
- Customising the store for tax rules, payment methods and shipping providers
- Securing the store, deploying it onto the web and maintaining it
- Invoicing and Customer Relationship Management - using the CiviCRM modules
- Marketing the business using advertising, newsletters, social media and SEO tips
- Finally, it covers setting up a local WAMP development environment (in an appendix) so you can create the store on your own computer before deploying it
Where can I get it?
You can order it direct from the publishers, from Amazon UK, Amazon US, there are a few other places that sell it too.
Feedback
I welcome feedback on the book (good or bad) either through the Publishers (I think they have a feedback area) or direct (use the contact page on this site), so if you want to tell me "it's great" or "would have been good to include x, y, z" please let me know.
