Bubbling

Yes, I know it looks like we are not very busy at the moment, and yes, I know we are poor at keeping our blog up to date!

In fact, behind the scenes things are very busy again, with a number short and long term projects and some “business enhancement” plans - let’s take a look at ‘what’s cooking’.

Short/medium term

  • Client work
  • Further marketing

Long term:

  • durhamStudent
  • learnr
  • Toucan and Falcon

Business Enhancement

  • Dedicated premises
  • Guidelines for new members of the team - how we work (and why we do it that way). This will also be useful for us!

Client work

Work for clients always takes priority - without our clients we wouldn’t be here - so thank you clients! Client work is very important for us, be it for a small or large business, a charity, or just a bit of development work, it’s great to get involved with other businesses and organisations and help them to improve! We also spend a small amount of time each week marketing, be it sending letters, making some calls, or just networking with colleagues.

durhamStudent and learnr

durhamStudent™, and learnr™, two of our internal projects, are still under heavy development, and both Richard and I will be blogging about them nearer at a later date.

Toucan and Falcon

Toucan CMS, our content management system is really coming along well. It’s been ready for a while, but the back end has still needed work (in other words, we’ve used it, but adding and managing the content sometimes required direct database editing, which Richard ‘loves’). I’m still hard at work on that, and hope to release some screenshots of it later this week.

Falcon Accounts is a new product I’ve started working on. It is actually something I am developing for another organisation to help manage their accounts. It’s essentially a multi-account, multi-user, cashbook system. Nothing more than that at the moment, but once I’ve got something stable and working ready, the plan is to rapidly build new exciting features on it. I should point out, that I really do mean accounting software, and not some sort of billing / invoicing system.

Business Enhancement

This is our day job, and we love it - if we didn’t, we’d long have left the industry to work in a mundane 9 - 5! Although we have only been established for a relatively short time (about a year), the businesses which merged to form Peacock Carter (Evocative Design and Think Systems Internet), as our clients have started to call us, had been running for a combined total of over 5 years.

Our working environment has been difficult, as our offices are primarily for administration, which makes some things tricky at times. We have been actively seeking dedicated office space for Peacock Carter to work from for a while now. We had hoped to have moved into somewhere at the start of September, but we didn’t quite find what we were looking for. A number of other options have become available to us, which we are looking to more deeply. At the latest we hope to move into dedicated premises by Easter 2008, although we may be moving in somewhere at Christmas time - but that depends if we have the time to get everything set up then!

Sales Associates

We’re also proud to have a new member on board, Mohan Prasanna, a new sales associate for Peacock, Carter & Associates for the North East region.

The future is bright…

…and also probably a colour, or a mobile phone network. We are ‘bubblingly’ busy (yay, I managed to use the title of the post at last!) and have a lot more in store. Despite how busy we are, we always have time for our clients, old, present and new. So if you want to work with us, either as a client, as an associate or as a contractor, contact us.
