Biscuits are good for (web) business!
BBC News confirmed what Peacock Carter have known for some time the other day: that biscuits are key to business deals!
Since our website's redesign, (see 'Peacock Carter v2'), you may have noticed the mentions of tea and biscuits scattered throughout the website's copy, and it doesn't lie: we have plenty of tea, coffee and biscuits!
Not Just Biscuits
We're not under the illusion that biscuits are the sole factor in generating business (although they seem to help!). A lot of it is based on referals from existing clients, and new clients are usually happy to proceed after seeing the quality of our previous work. Our portfolio is another draw for clients; it shows them that we're established in web design (as do our publications in web design), and gives a good idea of what we're capable of.
Biscuits lead to a friendlier environment
I think it's also something to do with the ethos of businesses that do give biscuits: business which give biscuits tend to be more informal, which certainly helps from our perspective, since for web design and logo design projects, we need as much information about the client and their business as possible, and we find this relaxed environment helps.
Just think, how many businesses have you had meetings with where you've not been offered tea, coffee or biscuits? Offering them - even if they're not accepted - helps to create a true business relationship, which is, again, great for us - we want clients who will keep coming back for more work!
