Peacock Carter Corporate Blog
Web design improvements
In between a few of our bigger projects, Richard has been working on some web design improvements for some of our existing clients with website maintenance agreements.
There's anything seriously wrong with the current designs these websites use, but as the content and information contained within them changes, Peacock Carter feel it is appropriate to improve the websites design to better reflect the new information.
Biscuits are good for (web) business!
BBC News confirmed what Peacock Carter have known for some time the other day: that biscuits are key to business deals!
Since our website's redesign, (see 'Peacock Carter v2'), you may have noticed the mentions of tea and biscuits scattered throughout the website's copy, and it doesn't lie: we have plenty of tea, coffee and biscuits!

Just a quick update from Peacock Carter: we're busy working on quite a few large (mostly development-based projects) at the moment, of which we can't reveal any details (at least for the moment). We're also working on the usual website design and corporate identity projects for a number of clients in the Durham and Newcastle area, of which some may end up in our design portfolio.

One of the great things about Toucan CMS™ is that it is a modular Content Management System. This keeps the core system light and simple, and doing only one thing: content management.

Selling online with Drupal e-Commerce
I mentioned earlier about my second book, Selling online with Drupal e-Commerce, and how it was available for pre-order. Well, it is now published, and I received my author copies yesterday!
Web Designers versus Web/Media Agencies
There are, doubtless, huge numbers of web designers and developers, not just in Newcastle, but across the UK. A previous post on this blog was 'what to look for in a web designer or developer', but I in this post, I'd like to concentrate on the differences between a web designer and full-service 'media agencies'.
Peacock Carter v2
If you've been checking back on our website over the past few weeks, you'll have noticed (hopefully) the new design for our website, and that we've moved in to new offices in the Design Works centre in Gateshead, near Newcastle. Michael and I dubbed this 'Peacock Carter v2', since it's a new era for the business. That, and we're really sad.
Website Design & Development: Site Waste Planning
We're pleased to announce the new website for Site Waste Planning Ltd, a construction and destruction consultancy business formed in Newcastle. www.sitewasteplanning.co.uk.
Improving Our Development Process
We have some really big news to anounce shortly, but we are waiting for a few other key things to come in to play before we make the announcement. Until then, I thought I would provide a post about some improvements I have been making to the development process here at Peacock Carter.
Two Weeks
We’re very busy with preparations for a bit of a change at Peacock Carter, hopefully within the next two weeks or so. In between discovering that, in heraldry, a peacock stands for ‘beauty, power, and knowledge’ (see ‘The Meanings Behind the Symbols’) whilst a ‘carter’ doesn’t even exist in such a context, we’re working on quite a nice range of projects for clients and for ourselves, including an overhaul of Toucan, our content management system, based upon feedback from our clients.
