Richard Carter is Creative Director at Peacock Carter, undertaking the design of websites both for internal projects and clients.
From Shropshire to the North East
Originally from the warmer climates of Shropshire and Leicestershire, where he ran 'Evocative Web Design'. Richard graduated from the University of Durham in Software Engineering after completing his dissertation with the intriguing and thrilling title of 'An empirical study of stop-list program slicing'. Whilst this became a best seller on the high streets of the UK (for obvious reasons), he chose to focus on what he loves; web design.
Richard maintains a personal blog, Earl Grey and Battenburg.
Web design experience: books and speaking
Richard has now written 4 books in the web design field, in topics including Magento Commerce theming, MediaWiki and Joomla!, and has acted as a reviewer for 3 others, including a book on the Drupal 7 content management system.
Richard has also spoken at the local SuperMondays event on web design, and on a niche web design topic at the Front Row Conference in Krakow, Poland.
